PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

(2nd Quarter)

Name: VINCENT JOHN T. FRANCISCO Grade: 11

Section: MATIKAS

UNIT III : BUILDING AND MAINTAINING RELATIONSHIPS

Portfolio Output # 17 : Reflections On Personal Relationships

Write a reflection paper on your relationships, why they are important, and how you intend to keep the good relationships
strong and healthy.
• Having a good relationship with your family is very important. It is always good to have a nice
relationship with your family because you can gain trust and you know that they are always there
for you. When you are in a relationship with a boyfriend or girlfriend, they can always judge you by
how they want you and not always be true to you. Your family will always tell you the truth and will
not say things they do not mean just for acceptance. Having true friends is still one of the best
relationships you can have. Friends are different than your parents because there are just some
things you do not do with your parents. You can talk to your friend's different, act different, and do
activities that you do not do with your family. If relationships never happened you would not be able
to tell the real person you are. Relationships give you the chance to interact with the people you are
closest to. If relationships did not occur life would be boring. You would not be able to share your
thoughts or gain a persons respect. If my relationships with my friends and family ended, I would
have nothing to look forward to when a day was bad, or if you just needed to have a good time.
Relationships make people know who a person really is.
Portfolio Output # 18 : Response To Mom’s Letter

me. Thank you for your love, care, effort, time, and support you gave me through out my
childhood. Thank you for always being there in my life and always looking out for me. You always
made me feel special and encouraged me all along the way. I know these are things that parents are
supposed to do for their children, but I don’t think anyone else could have done it any better. Thank
you for always encouraging me to do what is good and better for everyone. Thank you for making
me smile every time I am sad. Thank you for cheering me up when I’m at my toughest and hardest
times. I’m sorry for everything I’ve done. I’m sorry for being such a hard-headed child. I’m sorry for
the times that I don’t listen to your advice. You have been my mother, sister, best-friend, and
companion through out my childhood and will always be even if we part ways. I love you, Mom.
Sincerely yours,
Daughter Shane
Portfolio Output # 19 : POSTER ON BASIC RIGHTS IN RELATIONSHIPS
On a piece of ¼ illustration board, sketch, draw, or design a poster which shows one’s basic rights in a relationship.

Portfolio Output # 20 : Description of My Social Group

Write about one of your social groups, it’s nature, activities, and benefits. Include a photo of yourself with the group.

A secondary group is one I have chosen to be a part of

because this group interact on a less personal level than in
a primary group, and our relationships are generally
temporary rather than long lasting. In the secondary group
I belong to we are not always together because they also
have their own family and work in life. So we can’t stay
longer and we will still be separated because our courses
are different when it comes to college. The relationship
between the members is very superficial and there is only
indirect exertion of influence amongst them. Some of the
members of the secondary group are active while others
are inactive. These groups provide greater channels of
opportunity for development of individual talents. A
secondary group broadens the outlook of it’s members
beyond the vested interests of the primary group. It is more universal in it’s judgement than the
primary group which is influenced by local customs and personal attitudes.

Portfolio Output # 25: Career Wheel

Write about your career wheel. Answer the following questions:
1. How did you go about naming events, situations, needs and facts
about yourself? Were there challenges in doing this? If so, what are
these challenges?
One key to identifying you career path is to identify yourself firs.
Career planning is like going on a trip and using a map. First, you
need to know yourself, where you are in the map. Then you want to
know what you want to be, where you want to go in the map and
lastly plan how you will get there, the route you will take. Let's focus
on the first, knowing yourself. First identify the your Personality,
Skills, Strengths ,Passions, Networks , and Educational Background.
There are other considerations but these five are core to
understanding yourself. If you are able to identify what those are,
then you can now more or less understand what you want to be.
2. Looking at these many facets in your life, which among them do you
think are major considerations when deciding on future career
options? Why would you consider these as a source of great impact?
The Factors we need to consider in choosing future a career options are 1.Pay-It is
significant, but it shouldn’t overshadow your love of what you do. Capabilities-Your
financial status, skills, and future endeavors. 3. Working Conditions-The people you
work with and the overall attitude. 4. Passion-A very important aspect in choosing
your future career. 5. Future Growth Potential-From a career growth standpoint, this
can be limiting and can also lead to job burnout and boredom. On the other side of
the spectrum, don’t underestimate your ability to acquire new skills while on the job.
If you take a position that places you well within your skill set, there’s little hope for
advancement.

3. Which are the areas that will really work to your advantage in relation
to the career options that you are considering? How will these impact
your choices?
Here are some qualities that you have to consider in identifying your career path and
how these qualities can impact your decisions:
• Know your strengths and interests - These shall guide you better in making up with
choices of what career you would like to pursue. Your strengths and interests
must be aligned as much as possible so that you will have a much easier
assessment of yourself.

• Active learning - Eagerly learning about new skills and knowledge takes a toll on
most of your journey. You can't be the know-it-all type of person because this
might become your setback in the future. You should be open for corrections and
criticisms if you really want to improve or to broaden your capabilities.

4. What are you realizations after this exercise?

To pursue one’s goals, it is needed to know what those goals actually are. For this
the person needs to know his/her abilities and needs to realize his/her true
potential; the individual has to know himself/herself.

Portfolio Output # 26: Assessment Profile

Summarize what you have learned about yourself in relation to your career choices. Answer the following
process questions:
1. What were your thoughts while you were accomplishing the
assessment tools? Were there challenges/difficulties? If so, what were
these challenges? Did you find some of the tools/questions easy to
answer? Why was this so?
My thoughts while accomplishing the assessment are very interesting
to respond and easy to answer A little hard for me especially in
communication skill where I am not good at. And Sone of the questions
are easy because I know what I’m gonna respond to it.
2. Hearing your classmates share their scores, what points where you
were alike? How did this make you feel about your own profile? Were
there interesting differences? How did this make you feel? What did
you realize while hearing your classmates share their scores?
When my classmates share their scores, I always realize two things:
First, Whatever our score is, it does not change our status and
relationship, we still remain friends. Second, Our identity and value
does not depend on our scores. Scores should not define who you are
nor change the way you treat others. Those who are brilliant should be
intentional in helping their classmates especially those who have
difficulties in learning. Of course there are times you may wish that
you are like those who have high scores and there are times that you
become frustrated after all the efforts. You put just to learn but let the
situation become your motivation to push yourself a little more so that
you can perform well also.

3. What areas do you think you need improvement on? How do you think
will you go about improving them? Give concrete examples.
The Areas that needs an Improvement – Example :“I’m working on
improving my skills with some project management and organizational
tools and technologies right now. As I take on more and more
management in my career, I’ve realized if I become an expert in project
management software, it will make me and my team even more
productive. So I’m trying to go from ‘good’ to ‘great’ in these areas.” In
this example, you’re naming something you’re already pretty good at,
but want to improve even more.
4. What realizations do you have after seeing the whole picture based on
the different areas where you were assessed? How do you think will
this information be relevant to your career decision?
Here are some steps that describe my realizations you can take to help you make
a decision that involves your career: Identify and investigate the decision. Set
aside time to think. Evaluate your plan: Identify and investigate the decision, Set
aside time to think, Consider your options, Remember your values & Ask for a
different perspective. This is relevant to mu career decisions because this are the
only way to make your career better and properly.

Portfolio Output No. 29: My Projected Cost of Living

Refine the first Cost of Living computations you made in class and
answer the following processing questions:
1. What was the process you employed in doing the tasks for this activity?
How did you go about determining your needs and wants?
I usually choose the one that I really need. I always sees the prizes if
they are expensive. I only gets what I really needs. I didn't force myself
to have it if I can't afford it. I know how to manage my money. I only
wants to buy my needs than my wants.
2. After outlining your needs and wants and computing for the amount it
takes to be able to sustain them, did you have to make any
additions/deletions to the list? How did you go about determining
these revisions to your list? Describe the process you used to do so.
By experience, yes, I have to make additions and deletions to the list of
my needs and wants after the computation of the amount it takes to be
able to sustain them since the total cost exceeds my income. In order
to make revisions I have to re-evaluate and ask myself again if I really
need my listed needs and wants. My everyday needs doesn't change so
the re-evaluation was concentrated on my wants rather than needs for
these are the things that can really be changed. I crossed out what’s
not really important and just let the important things remain. After re-
evaluating I did compute again and more savings were added that
having more debts. Then, I finalized it with a carefully outlined note.
3. Considering the cost of living of you have computed and the kind of
career you are targeting, how realistic/doable would it be in supporting
you envisioned lifestyle? Are there any changes in your plans now that
you have matched your lifestyle expectations and your “dream job”?
What are these and what made you decide on it?
Considering the cost of living I have computed and the kind of career
that I am targeting, I can say that somehow, YES it is still
realistic/doable in supporting my envisioned lifestyle because I believe
that nothing is impossible in life. If there is something that we really
want to do, we can achieve it. It is just about prioritizing your needs
over your wants. We all know that life is not easy. We need to have a
good job with a high salary so we can provide everything that we need
for ourselves and for our families. Sadly, there are people choosing
different path than pursuing the career that they really want. As a
result, they are not enjoying what they are doing. They are just staying
in where they are because of money.

4. What are your thoughts/feelings and realizations after the activity?

Outlining your needs and wants and trying to compute the amount to be able to
sustain them is a good way of assessing ourselves if were financially broke or not.
In this way we can make ways in order to give importance to what we really need.
This opens our eyes to see things where we've wasted our money and change for
the better for a happy and contented life.

Portfolio Output No. 30: My Creative Career Timeline

Improve on the first Career Timeline you made and answer the
following processing questions as a reflection of the class exercise:
1. How was the process of picking out significant life events done for you?
What were your considerations/criteria in choosing which event would
be included in your timeline? Who are the people that were significant
to you on the events that you have picked to include? Our life events
may be out of control sometimes, but making them significant depends
on our control and perspective. Making life events significant should be
dealt by taking some things into consideration by the presence of
significant people, risking life-changing decisions and importantly,
Defining our purpose. It is making the best of what I have now, and
anticipating for the best things that are yet to happen and come to me.
2. What were your thoughts and feelings while you were trying to
determine high and low points in connection to the events that you
have chosen?
Here are some of my thoughts and feelings upon determining such
points in my life:
• I am the cause of this effect everything that happens is a cause-and-
effect, everything I do has a cause and a result. If I go to my lowest,
I'll reflect on the things I did and determine which one cause the
struggle.

•This is just a phase/stage in life - having or being in a low and/or high

point in life is just a phase. Change is constant and it is inevitable,
and you will experience both high and low point at least once in your
life.

• Be grateful when you're in the high, and be faithful when you're in the
low- I always put in my mind that this is just a challenge sent from
above.
3. How did you go about placing your “future” highs in the timeline? How
did you go about plotting these future events? What were your
present/past references for it if any?
Timeline plotting is important in setting your future goals. It helps you
set perspectives in your dreams. As a person who has aims and
aspirations in life here are the things that you should consider in
plotting you timeline goals. You should decide on the sample time of
reaching your goal if it is achievable or not. Specify and identify how
many hours a day or in a week are you going to spend to reach your
plotted goals. Make sure to consider your family, friends and self-time
in doing your goal.
With the references in goal-setting/plotting, always remember to
evaluate your skills, your time-management, you capacity to decide,
your past experiences and the future consequence of your decisions.
4. How do you feel about your time line?
For me, I felt good and amaze because I made my own timeline. It is better to
know my timeline to know more about my career and how I manage it.
5. What are your over-all realizations after the activity?
My overall realization for this activity are about career that is/are very important
thing in one's life. Whatever career path you choose to follow, it will impact your
life greatly. Your career will define your status in a society in addition to your
lifestyle. In other words, your career will determine your social circle and

Portfolio Output No. 32: Personal Development: Hindsight and Foresight

Write an essay on your journey through this course on Personal Development. How
have you changed since the beginning of this semester? What have you learned about yourself?
What activities and reading were most useful to you? What can you do in order to continue
your personal development after this course?

I have learned in the subject of personal development that in order to achieve our satisfaction and
needs in life we must put love and efforts to anything that we do in order for us to grow mentally
and that’s the spirit of how we develop ourselves, we also need to maintain our mental health
because sometimes we feel pressure and tiredness when we gave our best to what we do, to fight
stress that can lead to depression which is known or common in our country. Personal development
is a very interesting subject. It allows me to understand myself, the people around me and help me
explore my individuality as an individual. As a student studying this course (subject), I gained ideas
on personality especially on the back-up theories of psychology. This made me understand my
prevailing behaviors. Also, it gave me ideas which initially explained the behaviors of the people
around me. it makes me realize that we are complex beings. We obtain several identities and
perceptions based on our experiences. Thus, it allows me to broaden my understanding. lessen my
prejudice and accept others ideas and perceptions without hesitations. So I’m happy to learned this
Personal Development that makes me realize more about my self.
